Job summary

Roku Pay is shaping the monetization platform for billions of viewers. You will lead the architecture and implementation of a highly available, fault-tolerant billing system across AWS/GCP, writing a large portion of code and driving end-to-end initiatives.

Expect to evaluate new technologies, design shared layers, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and Ops to deliver resilient services for streaming, APIs, and batch workloads.

Qualifications

• 10+ years architecting and running large-scale services in subscriptions/payments.
• Expertise in tax, payment, renewals, invoicing workflows.
• Advanced hands-on with AI-assisted coding tools and delegating integration.
• Experience building streaming, API, notifications, and batch workloads.
• Strong architectural design and track record of high availability.

Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation and implementation of new technologies and designs.
• Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate development while ensuring quality.
• Build and ship features using AI agents and review output.
• Engage in architectural discussions and influence roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership to drive platform availability and scalability.
• Set engineering excellence standards with hands-on leadership.
• Own building platform features with product and other teams.
• Design shared architectural layers and libraries for reuse.
• Review technical specs and provide feedback.
• Advocate best practices across developers, QA, and ops.
• Participate in code/design reviews and code ~80% of the time.
