Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an executive-level leader for the Merchant Services payments team in the United States. You will oversee a senior group of ~35 subject matter experts, translating complex payment economics into strategic initiatives that enhance merchant outcomes and profitability.

Responsibilities include leading network releases, managing costs, and driving regulatory compliance while promoting a strong risk and control environment.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of merchant acquiring and issuing economics.
• Expertise in interchange and network fee management.
• Experience with merchant pricing, billing, and profitability analyses.
• Strong P&L management across merchant services.
• Understanding of end-to-end transaction flows (authorization to settlement).
• Familiarity with card network rules and regulatory changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead biannual payment network releases across processors and networks.
• Oversee invoice review, reconciliation, and cost controls to protect revenue.
• Manage annual volume-tier reviews and pricing incentive changes.
• Advocate for merchants; assess regulatory and network requirements with stakeholders.
• Strengthen risk and control framework and remediation efforts.
• Provide senior subject matter expertise on payments economics and flows.
• Lead and develop a high-expertise payments team; succession planning.
• Automate manual processes to improve efficiency.
