Job summary

Maxana is seeking a Backend Engineer for Payments to own billing logic, renewals, and event signaling within a TypeScript-based backend and Go services. You will work on subscriptions, revenue events, and merchant integrations in a fully remote, LATAM-friendly environment.

The role emphasizes attention to correctness, testing, and collaboration with product and leadership in a senior, small-team setting. Strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years backend TypeScript/Node in production.
• Payments or billing experience strongly preferred (subscriptions, webhooks, PSP integrations).
• Postgres fluency; schema design and queries.
• Willingness to learn Go (some platform lives in Go).
• Testing-minded by instinct; write tests with code.
• AI-native workflow experience desirable; use AI-assisted tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build the money logic for subscriptions, renewals, credits, and plan-change mechanics.
• Guard signal integrity: every transaction emits a payment event; ensure webhook reliability.
• Integrate with payment processors and orchestration APIs; handle auth/capture, refunds, retries, edge cases.
• Test like it's load-bearing; automated coverage alongside code.
• Support frontend surfaces when needed; deep frontend work is not the primary focus.
