Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Payments Architect to lead the architectural vision, design, and implementation of next‑generation payments infrastructure for a global financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Define end‑to‑end payment architectures ensuring scalability, resiliency, and global adoption.
• Evaluate existing systems and recommend modernization strategies for performance, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Drive consistency across payment platforms, APIs, and digital channels.
• Provide deep expertise in instant payments, real‑time settlement, and cross‑border payments.
• Align payment platforms with global instant payment rails (FedNow, RTP, SEPA, UPI, etc.).
• Build Open Banking & API ecosystems, enabling seamless integrations.
• Lead initiatives in Blockchain, Tokenization, and AI‑driven compliance & fraud prevention.
• Implement cloud‑native, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
• Review code quality, system design, and technical debt; establish best practices.
• Partner with business, operations, and compliance teams to align strategy.
• Collaborate with vendors, fintech partners, and regulators.

Qualifications & Experience

• 18+ years overall IT experience; 12+ years in payments domain.
• Proven experience architecting large‑scale payment platforms at a bank or payment processor.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Hands‑on knowledge of ACH, SWIFT, ISO 20022, RTP, SEPA, Fedwire, card processing, merchant acquiring, wallets, tokenization.
• Strong expertise in API‑first design, microservices, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and event‑driven systems (Kafka, MQ).
• Experience with Blockchain, DLT, digital currency frameworks.
• TOGAF, Zachman, AWS, or Azure certifications preferred.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder influencing, and team leadership skills.

• Track record leading large, distributed engineering teams.
• Mentor solution architects and shape architectural direction.
