Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payload Mechanical Engineer for a 12+ month contract in Santa Ana, CA. You will own structural, mechanical, and thermal analysis for the vehicle and drive design reviews, prototype builds, and test campaigns onsite.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in structural design for marine, aerospace, or robotic systems and is proficient with Nastran, ANSYS, or Abaqus, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in structural design and analysis for marine, aerospace, or robotic systems.
• Proficiency with Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Experience with submarine or pressure hull structures.
• Familiarity with ABS or DNV structural design codes.
• Experience with composites and weld analysis.
• Experience in defense or maritime robotics.

Responsibilities

Immediate need for a talented Senior Payload Mechanical Engineer. This is a 12+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Santa Ana, CA (Onsite).

Pay Range: $96/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

• Own structural, mechanical, and thermal analysis for the vehicle
• Perform structural analysis: FEA, hand calculations, and buckling
• Verify structural interfaces with propulsion, buoyancy, energy, and payload systems
• Drive trade studies balancing strength, weight, corrosion, and cost
• Support prototype builds and structural test campaigns
• Contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR) and documentation
• Travel up to 25% to test sites and manufacturing facilities

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
• 7+ years of experience in structural design and analysis for marine, aerospace, or robotic systems
• Proficiency with analysis tools (Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent)
• Experience with materials selection for corrosive or high-pressure environments
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
• Experience with submarine or pressure hull structures
• Familiarity with ABS or DNV structural design codes
• Experience with composites and weld analysis
• Experience in defense or maritime robotics
