Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton/Quonset Point seeks an experienced Phased-Array UT (PAUT) NDT Engineering Level III Examiner/Senior to lead PAUT program development for shipyard inspections, both nuclear and non-nuclear. The role spans Groton shipyard and Quonset Point Facility, with emphasis on PAUT adoption into shipbuilding processes.

You will guide PAUT processes, train inspectors, review compliance with military specs and coordinate with QA, Design, Engineering, and NAVSEA

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with a variety of organizations
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to read, write, and interpret specifications, procedures, reports and other documents
• Interpersonal and communication skills to investigate problems and implement solutions

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical lead for PAUT weld inspection techniques, data review, flaw characterization and weld acceptance criteria development
• Provide technical guidance on PAUT processes, procedures, requirements, and training development for shipbuilding inspections
• Review, administer, and ensure compliance with fabrication, welding, and NDT military specifications
• Maintain company standards, procedures, and process improvements in NDT
• Interface with QA, Design & Engineering and NAVSEA representatives; prepare technical reports
