The Senior Patient Services Specialist provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services as well as patient orientation for the Swedish Cancer Institute on multiple campuses. They exercise independence in planning and accomplishing a wide spectrum of clerical duties. Responsibilities include:

1. Scheduling of new patients, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests
2. Acquiring insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations
3. Preparing and maintaining the patient's medical record
4. Reconciliation of billing issues
5. Answering multiple phone lines and triaging calls

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills around patient care and clinic matters are vital. Exceptional compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability are necessary when working with the Oncology population.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months
• Within 6 months (180 days) of hire, Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course
• 1 year experience in a healthcare setting preferred (e.g., physician’s office, scheduler)
• Experience in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree with emphasis in Health Care or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
