Job summary

UTMB in Galveston, TX seeks a Sr. Patient Account Specialist to bill third-party payers and manage appeals for denied claims. You will identify issues affecting hospital and physician claims, perform follow-up, and ensure timely reimbursements within the Epic system.

Responsibilities include resolving payer rejections, updating patient accounts, and supporting the training of new staff while maintaining QA standards in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years patient accounts experience.
• Minimum of two years Epic Revenue Cycle experience.
• Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial insurance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Billing all third-party payers through a claims processing vendor.
• Appeal denied professional and/or hospital claims.
• Identify billing issues affecting hospital/physician claims and take action for timely filing.
• Follow-up on accounts and reimbursement issues.
• Update account information in Epic Resolute and document actions.
• Assist in training and mentoring of new employees.
• Perform quality assurance reviews and maintain productivity.
