Whirlpool Corporation, based in Benton Harbor, MI, seeks a Senior Manager-Level Patent Counsel to lead the IP function and safeguard Whirlpool’s innovations. You will report to the Legal Director, Patents & Intellectual Property Litigation, and guide patent, trade secrets, and monetization efforts across business units.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration, design efficient processes, and deliver practical, business-focused legal solutions that support product leadership and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of legal experience in Intellectual Property, including patent/trade secret litigation, transactions and monetization.

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute IP protection strategies for Whirlpool innovations.
• Advise on patent strategy and manage filing, prosecution, and maintenance of the global patent portfolio.
• Negotiate IP-related contracts including M&A, confidentiality, development, and license agreements.
• Pursue opportunities to enforce IP and monetize IP assets.
• Establish product clearance plans and advise on freedom-to-operate risks.
• Provide IP advice and training to engineering and business teams.
• Improve processes to deliver a sophisticated IP strategy within the law department.
