Job summary

Stinson LLP is seeking an experienced patent agent to join the patent prosecution group within the Intellectual Property and Technology Division. The role focuses on drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, with responsibilities spanning patentability assessments and support for due diligence.

The position offers a highly competitive compensation and bonus structure based on billable hours, and opportunities across mechanical, electrical, software, and related technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience managing patent prosecution docket and ownership of patent applications.

Responsibilities

• Draft and globally prosecute patent applications.
• Coordinate with foreign law firms to file foreign patent applications.
• Coordinate with clients for processing and legalization of documents for filing in U.S. and foreign offices.
• Review country requirements and obtain Foreign Filing License where needed.
• Prepare and send notices to clients regarding upcoming deadlines.
• Correspond with foreign law firms regarding filings, deadlines and billings.
• Meet billable hour target of 1650 per year.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
