Job summary

Grace Baptist Church in Decatur, IL, seeks a Senior Pastor to lead the congregation in the Great Commission, preaching, teaching, and shepherding with an elder-led model. The role emphasizes discipleship, missions, and community involvement.

The pastor will guide spiritual health, vision, and ministry direction, partnering with staff and volunteers to outreach locally and abroad, while maintaining doctrinal integrity and pastoral care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry and/or Bible theology
• Ordained
• Proven leadership and communications skills
• Commitment to the great commission
• Love for the Lord and love for His people
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver biblically sound, Christ-centered sermons.
• Teach and defend sound doctrine.
• Lead in the administration of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
• Encourage spiritual growth through discipleship and Bible study.
• Provide spiritual leadership and oversight to the congregation.
• Visit and minister to the sick, grieving, and homebound.
• Offer biblical counseling and guidance.
• Pray regularly for the church family.
• Work alongside Elders in setting vision and direction.
• Lead, supervise, and encourage church staff and ministry leaders.
• Support church ministries, outreach efforts, and missions.
• Promote unity, fellowship, and spiritual health within the church.
• Lead the church in evangelism and community engagement.
• Represent Grace Baptist Church within the local community.
• Encourage members to share their faith and serve others.
