Job summary

SFBC is seeking a servant leader to preach, teach, and shepherd the church in New York. The pastor will be the principal public communicator of God's Word and will guide the congregation toward maturity in Christ.

The role emphasizes a life transformed by prayer, pastoral visitation, and counseling, with a focus on making disciples locally and globally while leading staff and lay leaders in a mission-driven church.

Qualifications

• Must be an ordained Southern Baptist minister.
• Must be a graduate of a Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
• Must meet scriptural qualifications for pastoral ministry as outlined in 1 Timothy and Titus.
• Experience in various areas of counseling is a plus.
• Prefer experience with leading and managing staff and team building.
• Prefer 10 years of increasingly responsible experiences in pastoral roles.
• Evidence of exegetical/expository preaching with careful attention to Word and God’s intent.
• Able to communicate and teach sound theology on key issues such as God, sin, evangelism, discipleship, unity, and worship.

Responsibilities

• Preaches and teaches God's Word as led by the Spirit and serves as principal communicator in public worship.
• Models the heart of the Shepherd by visiting members and ministering to the sick and needy.
• Motivates and guides the congregation as spiritual leader and vision-caster.
• Leads the church to make and equip disciples locally and globally for the Great Commission.
• Leads and mentors staff and lay leaders to develop skills for growth.
• Develops and communicates a vision for spiritual growth within the church.
• Practices Biblical counseling in partnership with local counselors.
