Job summary

22nd Street Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Pastor to faithfully preach and teach Scripture, lead the congregation, and guide spiritual vision.

The candidate will shepherd staff and volunteers, model Christlike character, and partner with the church to fulfill the Great Commission through evangelism, missions, and discipleship within a Southern Baptist framework.

Qualifications

• Clear testimony of salvation and call to pastoral ministry.
• Affirm the doctrinal beliefs of the SBC, including the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Strong expository preaching and teaching abilities with a heart for evangelism and missions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary preacher and teacher through faithful, expositional preaching.
• Lead the congregation in applying God’s Word to daily life.
• Provide spiritual, visionary, and strategic leadership for the church.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate a clear testimony of salvation and a personal call to pastoral ministry.
• Meet the biblical qualifications for pastors found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
• Affirm the doctrinal beliefs of the Southern Baptist Convention, including the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Ordained or licensed Southern Baptist minister.
• Possess strong expository preaching and teaching abilities.
• Demonstrate a heart for evangelism, discipleship, and missions.
