Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Passive Thermal Hardware Engineer to lead the design and integration of passive thermal systems for lunar and spaceflight hardware. You will develop module and vehicle-level assemblies, work with thermal analysts, and produce detailed specifications and test plans for flight readiness.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• 8 years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal design fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience building and testing thermal hardware.
• Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive working relationships.
• Experience managing hardware EBOMs, drawings and manufacturing artifacts.
• Experience working cross-functionally with materials, manufacturing and design teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and task ownership; strong communication skills.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop passive thermal assemblies from conception to flight operations.
• Support internal or external development of passive thermal components.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline product teams to mature designs.
• Work with the thermal analysis group to validate concepts.
• Produce component specifications, test plans and test reports.
• Analyze thermal performance using hand calculations and Thermal Desktop models.
• Develop short- and long-term development plans.
• Make make-or-buy decisions for thermal components.
