Job summary

Hawaii Paroling Authority Division of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation seeks Parole Officers to supervise and assist parolees, evaluate inmates pre-release, and coordinate services for successful reintegration into the community.

Positions involve inspecting housing plans, contacting potential employers, presenting to the Parole Board, and maintaining detailed records while ensuring public safety and compliance with laws and policies.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university including 12 semester credits in behavioral sciences (psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, criminal justice, etc.).
• One and a half years of progressively responsible professional work experience involving counseling or related areas requiring interviewing, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Type A/Type B parole duties include diagnosing and assessing pre-parole inmates, recommending parole suitability, planning supervision levels, and developing treatment plans.
• Level IV responsibilities include intensive casework for complex parolees, participation in revocation hearings, training lower level officers, and coordinating with other agencies.
• General duties require maintaining case records, reporting, and interacting with Parole Board and community resources.
