Job summary

El Paso County Parks Department seeks a Senior Training & Safety Program Specialist to lead a comprehensive training, safety, and career progression program. You will design and implement curricula, deliver engaging safety training, mentor staff, and measure program effectiveness to strengthen performance across our parks workforce.

The role involves collaborating with managers, supervisors, and subject matter experts, creating development pathways, and ensuring compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• One year of training, facilitation, or related experience.
• Experience in curriculum design and instruction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and implement curriculum and training for assigned programs to ensure improvement of outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver information through a variety of instructional techniques and formats relevant to adult learners.
• Maintain knowledge of technological changes in training methods and incorporates multimedia, distance learning, and other technologies.
• Develop metrics to analyze the effectiveness of training.
• Oversee and participate in delivering training; assess needs through surveys, focus groups, and management input; design/adapt programs.
• Conduct or participate in program-related training for new employees.
• Develop and/or recommend training areas; collaborate with subject matter experts and managers.
• Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring; facilitate unit team-building workshops.
• Oversee or assist with the career progression program as directed.
• Participate in administrative planning meetings and management activities.
• Serve as liaison to professionals, agencies, and the public; respond to training or performance concerns.
• Coordinate travel arrangements for training; provide back-up support when needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
