Job summary

Arnold & Porter LLP in Washington, DC seeks a Tax Senior Paralegal to join the Practice Support Services team, supporting the Private Client Services (Trusts & Estates) Practice Group. The role provides comprehensive support for trust and estate administration, probate proceedings, and tax filings under attorney supervision.

Responsibilities include asset gathering for probate, asset valuations, coordinating communications among stakeholders, preparing probate filings and estate tax returns

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of paralegal experience in trusts and estates.
• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
• Accounting, estate planning, and tax preparation experience preferred.
• Proficiency with ONESOURCE Trust & Estate Administration, Estate Val, Gift Val, Estate Planning Tools, Superforms, and the IRS website.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to work with clients, family offices, and financial institutions.

Responsibilities

• Gather, review, and organize asset information for probate proceedings and estate tax reporting.
• Assist with valuation of estate and trust assets and coordinate real estate/appraisals.
• Coordinate communications among attorneys, estate and trust representatives, client families, and business representatives.
• Prepare probate filings and estate tax returns in US jurisdictions, including electronic filings.
• Collaborate with paralegals across offices to facilitate probate and tax filings.
• Prepare IRS forms, supporting documentation, and respond to IRS audit requests.
• Create illustrations of asset structures and administration processes.
• Prepare annual estate and trust accountings.
