Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; minimum six years paralegal experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting government investigations (e.g., SEC/DOJ) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in managing complex legal filings and e-filing procedures is essential.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to manipulate large datasets.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client, a well-regarded international law firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Paralegal to support their team local to either their New York, NY, Boston, MA or DC offices.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and support the drafting, preparation, coordination, and submission of Federal and State Court pleadings, motions, filings, and other legal documents.
  • Provide comprehensive litigation support and guidance across all stages of discovery, including document collection, review, analysis, organization, production, and deposition-related activities.
  • Assist attorneys and case teams with preparation for and participation in witness interviews, depositions, hearings, trials, and client conferences or meetings.
  • Perform detailed quality-control reviews of motions, briefs, pleadings, and other court submissions before filing, including proofreading, citation verification, record validation, exhibit assembly, and document formatting.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and oversee highly technical, complex, sensitive, and high-volume court filings, including submissions subject to confidential or restricted filing requirements.
  • Collaborate with managing law clerks, legal support personnel, and other business services professionals to coordinate filing schedules, deadline notifications, submission requirements, and distribution of case-related filings.
  • Conduct sophisticated searches within Relativity and other litigation databases, including document identification, coding, extraction, organization, and retrieval.
  • Develop, maintain, review, and finalize privilege logs, redaction logs, and related discovery tracking materials.
  • Monitor and administer numerous concurrent deadlines, effectively sequencing priorities, allocating resources, and delegating assignments when appropriate.
  • Contribute to complex and advanced initiatives involving data administration, organization, interpretation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensure that litigation-related files and records are consistently maintained in accordance with departmental standards, approved procedures, and designated case-management platforms, while identifying opportunities to improve electronic document storage, organization, accessibility, and retrieval.
  • Protect and preserve the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and integrity of client files and matter records.
  • Conduct extensive non-legal research using a broad range of investigative and information resources, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR, court websites, financial databases, media platforms, and other relevant research services to locate statutes, case materials, articles, books, and related information.
  • Partner with partners, associates, attorneys, and paralegals across multiple Firm offices to provide support on sophisticated, large-scale, and multijurisdictional matters.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to case teams and junior paralegals, providing instruction, coaching, mentorship, direction, and constructive performance feedback.
  • Cultivate strong professional relationships through clear, effective, and tactful verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Exercise sound judgment and accountability in the appropriate and cost-conscious use of Firm resources.
  • Maintain a consistent, dependable, and professional physical presence in accordance with Firm expectations and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and adherence to Firm policies, procedures, operational standards, and business practices.
  • Undertake additional assignments, special projects, and related responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Federal and State Court rules, regulations, filing requirements, and procedural standards, including applicable civil and criminal procedures.
  • Proven professional experience supporting government investigations, including investigations conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Department of Justice (DOJ).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex legal filings and court submissions, with particular expertise in electronic filing and e-filing procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate, organize, analyze, and manage complex information.
  • Ability to efficiently and confidently operate a variety of electronic databases, document repositories, litigation platforms, and document-management systems.
  • Working familiarity with Relativity and other electronic discovery and litigation-support applications, including Everchron.
  • Understanding of Firm operations, internal procedures, administrative practices, and organizational policies.
  • Proficiency with commonly used Firm technology and business applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, together with the ability to quickly master unfamiliar software applications, technology platforms, and operating systems.
  • Highly developed research and information-gathering capabilities, with demonstrated proficiency using the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR, court-related websites, financial research resources, media databases, and comparable information services.
  • Exceptional analytical, investigative, troubleshooting, organizational, project-management, and planning capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey information professionally, accurately, and effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform successfully independently while also contributing productively within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned assignments, projects, deliverables, and responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to work with confidential, sensitive, proprietary, and highly restricted information while exercising appropriate discretion.

Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least six years of professional experience in a paralegal capacity, or equivalent experience in a position requiring comparable competencies, technical knowledge, professional judgment, expertise, and skill.
