Job summary

Clearwater Paper Lewiston is seeking a Paper Machine Superintendent to lead the paperboard manufacturing department, ensuring safe operations, reliability, and cost-effective production. The role emphasizes technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration within a large mill.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage capital projects, and mentor a team of up to nine direct reports across ~60 employees, partnering with engineering and shift supervisors to meet customer specifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Pulp & Paper Science preferred.
• 5+ years operational paper machine experience.
• Leadership or technical role experience preferred.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills with change leadership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to learn production related programs.
• Self-directed and energetic, able to lead and motivate others.
• Knowledge of industry, machinery, equipment, and processes.
• Experience with high-demand paper grades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the paperboard department operates safely and meets specifications.
• Lead process improvement and capital asset maintenance initiatives.
• Oversee up to nine direct reports and ~60 employees.
• Act as a technical resource for the operations team.
• Backfill for the operations manager when needed.
• Collaborate with engineering and shift supervision to optimize production.
• Develop and implement safety and environmental programs in the mill.
