Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a licensed RN to oversee post-anesthesia care in the Main Hospital Building, 3 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am). The role focuses on the Phase I PACU, with opportunities to mentor staff and lead care coordination for diverse patient populations.

The ideal candidate has at least two years in PACU/ICU/ED, Texas RN licensure, and current BLS/ALS/ACLS/PALS or ENPC certifications. A strong leader with excellent communication is essential for this demanding, rewarding

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum two years Phase I PACU, ICU, or ED experience.
• Current RN license in Texas or a valid Compact license.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Current ALS/ACLS certification on hire.
• Current PALS or ENPC certification on hire.
• Must demonstrate leadership abilities and ability to serve as a charge nurse.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate while maintaining confidentiality and rights.
• Coordinate patient care per Parkland standards with the health care team.
• Provide Phase I recovery care for adult and pediatric patients with continuous monitoring.
• Administer safe medication and manage pain; discharge readiness and handoff.
• Perform pre-operative assessments and universal protocol in the holding area.
• Provide preceptorship to onboarding staff and supervise non-nursing personnel as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and patient satisfaction.
• Stay current with perianesthesia nursing practice and participate in ongoing education.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
