Summary of Job Duties: The Senior PACS Administrator is responsible for the implementation, management, and ongoing support of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and associated imaging systems across the healthcare enterprise. This role works in close collaboration with Medical Imaging leadership, Radiologists, Physicians, and the Information Technology department to ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures, as well as compliance with state and federal regulatory standards to support patient safety. Key responsibilities include advanced system configuration and functionality management, user administration, data integrity and correction, system upgrades, and complex issue resolution. The role also requires expertise in managing inter-application dependencies, network connectivity, and the configuration of HL7 and DICOM communication protocols. Additional responsibilities involve hardware support, information security configuration, and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of imaging system.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in IT, healthcare, or managing enterprise PACS systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, IT, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of IT experience or clinical/operational experience.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and expert-level support for enterprise imaging systems, ensuring alignment with clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees daily PACS operations, system configuration, application upgrades, user management, data integrity, and hardware maintenance, with a focus on DICOM, HL7, network connectivity, and security compliance.
  • Works closely with IT, radiology leadership, vendors, and cross-functional teams, leads implementations, manages projects, and serves as a primary liaison for resolving complex system issues.
  • Responsibilities include defining system requirements, developing technical and operational policies, and optimizing workflows to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Mentors staff, providing end-user training and documentation, and supporting system planning, development, and regional coordination.
  • Contributes to continuous quality improvement through performance metrics and QA/QI initiatives, and ensures system availability, data security, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
