Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a Packaging Engineer to collaborate with process, controls, and building system engineers. You will scope, layout, install, and commission packaging equipment for food and beverage clients as a design-build firm.

You will define project requirements, estimate costs, create flow diagrams, and support on-site construction and start-up activities, including factory acceptance testing and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, packaging, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
• 8–11 years of work experience in related field.
• Experience with large project definition, equipment design/layout, and commissioning.
• Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or design firms is required.
• Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must meet travel requirement of 50%–70% on-site travel.

Responsibilities

• Design basis of design and scope of work documents; develop design concepts.
• Develop functional specifications for packaging lines; create AutoCAD layouts.
• Review vendor shop drawings and discipline coordination drawings.
• Be subject matter expert in at least one packaging area; manage multiple projects.
• Create packaging flow diagrams, material balance, packaging matrix, and equipment specs.
• Develop project budgets; manage delivery and installation schedules.
• Lead a team; provide client contact and coordinate on-site work.
• Prepare machine testing requirements and procedures.
• Lead factory acceptance testing at vendors’ shops; coordinate with installation crews.
