Job summary

Insulet seeks a Category Manager, Direct Materials to lead packaging sourcing and procurement globally. The role partners with Packaging Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Planning, and Manufacturing to select suppliers, negotiate contracts, drive cost savings, and mitigate risk while ensuring supply continuity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations, engineering, packaging science, or related discipline.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Packaging Science preferred.
• 8+ years' relevant experience in procurement, packaging procurement, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute global sourcing strategies for packaging materials and related supplier categories.
• Develop and execute supplier agreements that support growth, mitigate risk, and reduce total cost of ownership.
• Lead sourcing events, supplier evaluations, bids, benchmarking, and negotiations for packaging materials and related services.
• Partner with Packaging Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Planning, and Manufacturing to ensure packaging solutions meet quality, regulatory, capacity, service, and cost requirements.
• Establish collaborative relationships with packaging suppliers and their senior management teams.
• Hold suppliers accountable through business reviews, scorecards, and corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with planning, manufacturing sites, and external partners to ensure packaging material availability and continuity of supply.
• Serve as escalation point for supplier, capacity, service, quality, and shortage issues affecting continuity or service.
• Maintain a pipeline of cost reduction and packaging improvement opportunities delivering year-over-year value.
• Drive projects to improve gross margin, working capital, service reliability, lead times, and packaging utilization.
