WSP USA is seeking a Senior Packaging & Material Handling Systems Designer to support our Facilities and Industrial Systems practice. This role leads packaging system layouts from concept through construction, working with cross-functional teams and clients to deliver high-quality designs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 9+ years of progressive experience in packaging systems, material handling, or industrial facilities design.
• Strong client communication and ability to work with project stakeholders.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools (Inventor or similar).
• Experience leading or independently executing complex packaging layouts.
• Ability to interpret scan data and point cloud files.
• Understanding of manufacturing, food & beverage, or equipment environments.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–30%.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging and material handling systems, including conveyors and layouts.
• Produce CAD and 2D/3D design deliverables with standards compliance.
• Develop and review building layouts, PFDs, P&IDs, and construction packages.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.
• Support project execution, scope, schedule, and coordination with managers.
• Lead site visits for data collection and verification.
• Present designs to clients in virtual and in-person settings.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors.
• Apply constructability, safety, and operational considerations throughout design.
