Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Packaging Engineer for the Starmind program to own the full lifecycle of advanced packaging for orbital AI compute hardware, including materials selection, process development, and failure analysis.

You will collaborate with mechanical, thermal, materials, electrical, and software teams to design and implement integrated thermal solutions, manage supplier relationships, and mentor engineers while ensuring safety and ITAR compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in microelectronics device research or manufacturing.
• Experience with hardware, robotics, automation or manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to tooling, fixtures, or jigs for assembly or test.
• Familiarity with PFMEA, SPC or similar process-development methods.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of advanced packaging through board assembly process development.
• Drive system trades, requirements, materials selection, prototyping, and failure analysis.
• Develop integrated thermal solutions including next‑gen TIMs.
• Manage equipment specification, qualification, and ramp.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, materials, electrical, software and supply chain teams.
