Job summary

Eastman seeks a Senior Packaging Engineer with 5+ years of experience to design and develop film- and paper-based packaging solutions. Located in Kingsport, TN, you will lead cross-functional teams, ensure sustainability and regulatory compliance, and drive innovation across Coatings and related businesses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in flexible packaging design and development with paper and film-based materials.
• Willingness and ability to travel ~25%, mainly within North America.
• Deep technical understanding of paper substrates, coatings and barrier technologies.
• Experience with packaging performance testing for film and paper-based materials.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability, recyclable/compostable packaging standards and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on packaging properties and converting processes.
• Lead customer projects for design, development and optimization of paper-based flexible packaging structures.
• Drive innovation in sustainable paper packaging with new materials and barrier technologies.
• Develop and maintain detailed packaging specifications and regulatory compliance documents.
• Engage across the packaging value chain to identify needs and opportunities for development.
• Influence customers to adopt new packaging solutions.
• Monitor trends and regulatory changes to guide strategic decisions.
• Partner with marketing and business development to deliver growth.
