Job summary

Baxter International Inc. seeks a Senior Engineer - Packaging to lead the design, installation, and qualification of new packaging equipment, driving improvements in safety, quality, and productivity across Filling and Packaging operations.

You will champion SPC programs, tracking OEE and performance metrics, and coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Validation, and Supply Chain teams to ensure project success in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5-8 years of engineering experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, or chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience leading packaging equipment installations, upgrades, qualifications, and validation activities.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging systems, automated equipment, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing capital projects in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols and equipment commissioning.
  • Knowledge of SPC and statistical analysis tools.
  • Experience implementing OEE and other manufacturing performance indicators.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance and equipment reliability principles.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new packaging equipment and systems.
  • Drive packaging process optimization initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost.
  • Implement and sustain SPC programs for Filling and Packaging operations, including filler machines and automation.
  • Apply appropriate statistical methodologies during equipment qualification and validation activities.
  • Develop systems to monitor documentation errors, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead transitions toward predictive and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
  • Develop and maintain packaging and filling performance metrics like OEE.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to improve throughput and reduce downtime.
  • Manage capital projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives from concept to closure.
  • Coordinate contractors, maintenance, vendors, and resources for project execution.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings and provide regular status updates to leadership.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize impact on operations.
  • Support operations by troubleshooting packaging equipment issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
