Job summary

Sara Lee Frozen Bakery is seeking a Packaging Engineer to organize, plan, manage and execute packaging innovation and cost-reduction projects across Retail, In-Store Bakery, and Foodservice. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop packaging platforms and support product innovation while ensuring quality, cost, and customer expectations are met.

The role requires leadership of multiple projects, awareness of packaging trends, and the ability to relocate to Traverse City, MI or

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in packaging or engineering, preferably CPG.
• Understanding of packaging interactions, sustainability, food protections and packaging tests.

Responsibilities

• Support assigned business/product lines with all package development needs.
• Manage multiple packaging development, technical application, and cost-reduction projects.
• Lead resources in problem identification and resolution for new/improved packages and processes.
• Coordinate experiments and plant trials; present technical results.
• Collaborate with units across Supply Chain, R&D, and Procurement to develop packaging platforms for product innovation.
• Provide technical support to solve manufacturing problems.
• Ensure documentation and IP protection; develop BOMs and packaging specs.
