Job summary

Abbott in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead and implement protective packaging components for automated manufacturing lines at a Third Party site. The role focuses on package design, supplier coordination, and maintaining compliance with medical device regulations.

You will manage design, testing, and validation of packaging solutions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive technical experience and demonstrated competence.
• Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting Medical Devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test a wide variety of packaging components for protection, display, and handling of products.
• Lead and participate in design, planning and introduction of pack components for existing and new products.
• Provide technical leadership and project management for packaging initiatives.
• Drive supplier relationships to ensure components meet specifications for new products.
• Support kit pack lines with installation and validation of packaging equipment.
• Collaborate with suppliers to address material issues, quality issues and CAPA/SCAR activities.
• Create and manage change requests and update SKU BOMs in the document control system.
• Set goals and schedules for projects and lead value-add opportunities for cost/quality improvements.
• Support QMS/EMS and other regulatory requirements across packaging programs.
