Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Engineer in Outage Engineering to develop and deliver outage servicing tools and equipment used in maintenance, inspection and outages for BWR and PWR nuclear plants. The role supports GVH customers from the Wilmington, NC area, with responsibilities spanning design, development, analysis and testing of new products and technology to meet challenging customer needs.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 8 years of mechanical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• At least 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or machine design.

Responsibilities

• Execute the design, development and analysis for specialty tooling and equipment using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements.
• Develop Outage Servicing Tooling and Equipment of high complexity.
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of Mechanical Design principles including expertise in areas such as; mechanical design, mechanical component design, structural design, welding, joint connections, and fabrication techniques.
• Proactively communicate and deliver assignments on time.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk.
• Communicate technical details to fabricators through the generation of fabrication drawings, specifications, and direct communication.
• Generate operational instructions for newly developed tools and equipment.
• Contribute to the success of others by providing feedback and technical input during design reviews and verifications.
• Provide mentorship to peers.
• Provide emergent issue response to Field Services teams and Customers as required.
