Job summary

K&A Power Group in Hartford, Connecticut is seeking an experienced Outage Coordinator II to lead outage planning and coordination for transmission projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure outages align with company and project goals and meet safety and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates bring extensive utility transmission experience, strong planning and communication skills, and the ability to operate across site and office environments in a dynamic energy landscape.

Qualifications

• A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive-related electric utility or related industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent 10 years of relevant experience is recommended.
• Extensive knowledge of construction management practices applicable to electrical utility transmission construction and generation projects.
• Extensive knowledge of interconnected electrical system operations.
• Knowledge of government regulations, including OSHA, NESC, and industry codes affecting electric utilities.
• Knowledge of contract preparation, negotiations, and administration.
• Working knowledge of budget preparation and administration.
• Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, and technical manuals.
• Excellent written and verbal communications, including correspondence, reports, and other business documents.
• Working knowledge of best practices in safety policies and procedures.
• Microsoft Word and Microsoft Project or Equivalent.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Must be able to report to site or office as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and oversee outages to support construction.
• Review outage assessments and kickoff meetings; draft a high-level plan.
• Lead on-site and office meetings to review layouts and outages.
• Coordinate outage requirements to minimize conflicts.
• Confirm plan alignment with other projects.
• Provide outage plans and drawings; conduct follow-up meetings.
• Facilitate equipment numbering across the engineering life cycle.
• Ensure post-outage reconfiguration prints and SOP alignment.
• Review outage plan with stakeholders.
• Develop emergency restoration measures and timelines.
• Deliver detailed outage plan for TOA development.
• Provide multiple versions of the outage plan and final run-through.
• Conduct outage planning presentations to Project Team and others.
• Refine plan as conditions change; submit updates.
• Monitor and control outage plan; manage changes.
• Work with cross-functional teams and policies.
• Maintain Master outage plan for New England companies.
• Coordinate meetings to enable work on affected lines.
