Your impact

At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Jacobs is seeking a qualified Operational Technology Cybersecurity professional to support clients operating critical infrastructure and industrial environments. Your role at Jacobs enables our OT cybersecurity team to understand how clients’ systems operate, evaluate cybersecurity risks within those environments, and develop practical improvements that protect reliability, safety, resilience, and business performance.

As a member of our team, you will support clients through OT cybersecurity assessments, architecture reviews, risk analyses, secure-by-design activities, incident-response planning, cybersecurity improvement programs, and related consulting engagements. You will work with asset owners, operators, engineers, system integrators, information technology teams, and cybersecurity stakeholders to understand how systems are designed, operated, maintained, and connected.

Senior OT Cyber Engineering Professionals will need excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and client-service skills, as well as deep working knowledge of operational technology systems, networks, architectures, and cybersecurity concepts. This position must be able to interpret complex technical environments, resolve ambiguity, identify meaningful risk, and translate findings into practical recommendations that clients can implement.

The successful candidate will exercise professional judgment, lead defined areas of complex engagements, communicate effectively with technical and executive audiences, and produce work products that are technically sound, operationally useful, and defensible.

Bring your team-focus, adaptability, and commitment to excellence, and we’ll help you grow what drives you and deliver the world’s most challenging projects, together.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead OT cybersecurity assessments, architecture reviews, technical analyses, risk assessments, and cybersecurity improvement activities
  • Evaluate OT systems, networks, architectures, control-system environments, remote-access arrangements, cybersecurity controls, and operational processes
  • Develop an understanding of client operations, system dependencies, engineering practices, maintenance activities, and operational constraints
  • Identify cybersecurity weaknesses and risks that could affect safety, reliability, availability, process integrity, regulatory obligations, or business operations
  • Analyze findings in the context of the client’s actual operating environment rather than treating individual control deficiencies in isolation
  • Frame and prioritize technical and cybersecurity issues based on operational impact, likelihood, consequences, and practical remediation considerations
  • Resolve ambiguity and make defensible professional judgments when technical information is incomplete, inconsistent, or unavailable
  • Identify systemic issues, recurring weaknesses, architectural concerns, and emerging risk patterns
  • Develop practical recommendations for system hardening, network architecture, segmentation, access management, monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, recovery, lifecycle management, and operational governance
  • Support secure-by-design and cybersecurity engineering activities for new and modified OT systems
  • Participate in client interviews, site visits, technical workshops, architecture reviews, design reviews, tabletop exercises, and working sessions
  • Prepare and review technical reports, assessment findings, risk analyses, architecture observations, remediation plans, procedures, presentations, and other client deliverables
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to engineers, operators, cybersecurity professionals, information technology personnel, managers, and executives
  • Represent Jacobs credibly in client meetings, workshops, interviews, and project activities
  • Provide technical and professional leadership within engagements
  • Mentor and support junior staff through coaching, review, guidance, and example
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of OT cybersecurity methods, tools, templates, assessment approaches, and service offerings
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, work planning, estimating, and client presentations as appropriate
  • Escalate issues when they exceed the role’s authority, available information, or technical expertise

  • Ability to understand how OT systems operate and how cybersecurity decisions affect safety, reliability, availability, maintainability, and process performance
  • Ability to evaluate cybersecurity issues within operational, engineering, safety, reliability, regulatory, and business contexts
  • Ability to analyze incomplete or ambiguous information and reach defensible conclusions
  • Strong technical analysis, risk assessment, problem-solving, prioritization, and professional judgment capabilities

  • Ability to explain complex technical and cybersecurity concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
