Job summary

Ares is seeking a Principal or Managing Director to join the Northeast originations team within the Ares Commercial Finance group. The role focuses on building and managing client relationships across the Northeast, structuring credit solutions and leading deal execution.

The position leverages deep asset-based and direct lending expertise, with a focus on delivering flexible, working-capital financing and bespoke facilities for middle-market clients. Travel will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent required.
• 10+ years as a BDO and/or an underwriter, preferably with an asset-based lending institution.
• Advanced knowledge of Asset Based Lending and commercial financial services practices and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients and outside contacts.
• Experience with asset backed lending, cash flow lending, direct lending etc. a plus.
• Strong structuring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Originate viable new business opportunities using existing network.
• Serve as liaison between Prospect and Legal to process NDAs.
• Request prospect credit package to determine if opportunity merits review.
• Analyze and structure new opportunities for credit approval with pre-clear memo.
• Coordinate with Prospect and Underwriter on upfront concerns for credit analysis.
• Assist in preparing initial credit analysis/pre-clear memo for approval; create term sheet.
• Present term sheets to prospects and negotiate terms for due diligence.
• Work with Underwriter through documentation and travel to prospect locations.
• Attend industry events to source business and educate on the market.
• Participate in conference calls with Senior/Executive Management.
• Respond to prospect requests promptly via email/phone.
• Prepare and submit weekly pipeline reports.
• Stay current on industry trends and comply with policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
