Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking an Organizational Development & Training Specialist Senior to lead citywide OD initiatives and training programs. You will plan, design, implement, and evaluate OD and HR services for one or more departments.

You will coordinate teams and engage leaders to drive capacity, culture, and performance improvement. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in HR development or related field and three years of OD/training experience, with potential substitution of

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources development or related field, plus three (3) years of experience in organizational development and training.
• One (1) additional year of closely related experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education up to a maximum of four (4) years substitution.
• Knowledge of basic training and learning principles.
• Knowledge of instructional systems design methods.
• Knowledge of City practice, policy, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates departmental rollouts of citywide HR or organizational development initiatives.
• Designs and performs department-wide needs assessments to identify and analyze major organizational problems.
• Coordinates the activities of other organizational development and training personnel, assigning tasks and monitoring their completion.
• Develops, schedules, coordinates, and delivers training modules, workshops, and facilitations to selected audiences.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of training modules and makes changes to improve future results.
