Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to support high‑load, secure data environments in Chantilly, VA. You will design, optimize, and manage Oracle databases, including PDBs in CDBs, and collaborate with data architects on scalable data models.

The role emphasizes expert SQL tuning, metadata governance, and adherence to security controls for sensitive datasets. DEA/public trust readiness is preferred, with on-site responsibilities in a federal context.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience as an Oracle DBA, Engineer, Developer, or Developer DBA.
• Deep hands-on experience with Oracle 19c or newer architecture and features.
• Proven experience designing and managing applications within Oracle Pluggable Databases (PDBs).
• Extensive data modeling experience using ER/Studio or Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler.
• Expert knowledge of Oracle internals, execution plans, indexing, and automated performance tuning via OEM.

Job description

• Support Special Operations initiatives through advanced database design, relational and dimensional data modeling, and Linux-based Oracle database development


• Architect and manage isolated data workloads using Oracle Pluggable Databases (PDBs) within Container Databases (CDBs)


• Diagnose and tune complex analytical queries and optimize execution plans


• Collaborate with data architects on logical data models and translate them into efficient physical database structures for high-load profiles


• Assist with metadata management and resolve semantic conflicts from disparate data sources


• Support database decommissioning and architect, design, and partition the online archive data store


• Maintain the Linux Oracle platform security posture according to federal DEA control sets, access controls, and automated patch management


• Define database administration standards and contribute to technical strategy through presentations and guidance on advanced DBMS concepts

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant work experience as an Oracle DBA, Engineer, Developer, or Developer DBA


• Deep hands-on experience with modern Oracle versions, specifically Oracle 19c or newer architecture and features


• Proven experience designing and managing applications within Oracle Pluggable Databases (PDBs)


• Extensive conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling experience using tools such as ER/Studio or Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler


• Expert knowledge of Oracle internals, execution plans, indexing strategies, and automated performance tuning via Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control


• Demonstrated experience in data integration, metadata management, and analytical data stores


• Active Secret security clearance required


• Ability to obtain and maintain a DEA Public Trust clearance, completed before start


• Desired: large, complex SQL query development experience


• Desired: advanced PL/SQL, including stored procedures, packages, and triggers


• Desired: experience with modern Oracle development IDEs


• Ability to work in a standard office environment and lift 25 pounds
