Job summary

AET Federal is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to join a four-person team supporting a federal agency's server-based applications. The Senior Oracle DBA serves as the Oracle Team Lead and is responsible for Oracle database administration, performance, availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, patching, and critical incident response.

The role also provides technical guidance to the Mid-Level Oracle DBA.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience.
• Strong experience with Oracle Database, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and RAC.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
• Experience with Oracle RMAN backup, restore, and recovery.
• Experience with database recovery, failover, and disaster recovery testing.
• Strong performance tuning using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and execution plans.
• Experience with patching, upgrades, maintenance, and production support.
• Experience leading critical database incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tool.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Willing to pass a federal background check.
• Able to work 8 hours/day within 7:30 AM–6:00 PM ET, with after-hours as needed.
• Willing to sign a letter of commitment for this proposal.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor production and non-production Oracle environments.
• Support Oracle Database, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and RAC.
• Monitor health, availability, storage, backups, and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex database, application, and connectivity issues.
• Manage ServiceNow incidents, requests, and changes.
• Plan and perform Oracle patching, upgrades, installations, and maintenance.
• Perform routine maintenance: tablespace, statistics, storage, security, and user administration.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and execution plans.
• Tune SQL/PLSQL, indexes, optimizer stats, and configs.
• Lead incident response and root-cause analysis; coordinate with teams.
• Maintain documentation, procedures, and recovery plans.
• Contribute to weekly support reporting; be available on Teams during core hours.
