Job description

Peraton is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator ("Oracle DBA") to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The Senior DBA will be a member of the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO supports the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), providing IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.

The Oracle DBA will be part of the Database Support team, supporting the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD), overseas posts, DMZ, Passport, and Consular One systems. Responsibilities include operational management of SQL database systems and Database Infrastructure, Tier 2 support for Oracle Databases, backups, recovery, monitoring, patching, performance tuning, replication, upgrades, and deployments. The team also supports Oracle, SQL Server, Datashare partners, and other database systems.

An effective Oracle DBA on the CAEIO Program has extensive experience with DBA tools, excellent problem-solving skills, hands-on Oracle database management experience, works well under pressure, adapts to changing priorities, collaborates across teams, and stays current with emerging database technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain database operation and physical design.
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases.
  • Review database design, provide backup recovery, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain security and integrity controls.
  • Develop stored procedures and triggers.
  • Audit and modify data using SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Manage backups, notifications, and database replication across multiple Oracle RDBMS servers and remote sites.
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and availability of a global 24x7 OLTP environment, including disaster recovery, performance tuning, index maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in the full lifecycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS and GoldenGate data replication.
  • Leverage experience with:
    • Upgrading Oracle RAC from 19c to 21c/23c, containerization, GoldenGate replication, and OEM deployment.
    • Managing Oracle Exadata systems from X2-8 to X8M-8 and ZDLRA backup systems.
    • Upgrading Oracle RDBMS and implementing Transparent Data Encryption.
    • Applying skills to RAC and Data Guard configurations and troubleshooting.

Ensure system performance, availability, and compliance with business requirements using advanced methods and research techniques.

Schedule & Location

Core schedule: Wednesday - Sunday, 11:00 PM ET - 7:00 AM ET (3rd shift). Position is hybrid, with remote work and one day/week in Sterling, VA. The onsite requirement may vary based on government needs. After a 1-week training in Sterling, VA, the schedule will be assigned.

Qualifications

Basic

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Oracle 11g, 19c, RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, Security.
  • Experience upgrading/migrating Oracle databases.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.

Desired

  • Experience supporting federal agency Oracle migrations using Agile/SAFe.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud, Exadata, Sun Super Cluster.
  • Oracle Certified Professional credential.

Education: Minimum 12 years with HS diploma; 10 years with AS; 8 years with BS/BA.
