Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
• Certified as a surgical technologist OR two to three years of experience; state registration if applicable.
• Must scrub proficiently on a minimum of two surgical specialties.
• Must have manual dexterity and stay composed in stressful situations.
• Keep up with developments in the field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling instruments and ensuring instrument readiness.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and passes instruments during surgery.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and manages sharps disposal throughout cases.
• Ensures surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
• Assists with OR turnover, stocking, and environmental cleanliness between cases.
• Participates in training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students.
