Job summary

Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our 12-operating-room surgical team. You will scrub, hand instruments, and provide sterile supplies throughout complex cases with strong collaboration among surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with current BLS, and either certification as a surgical technologist or 2–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with current BLS certification.
• Certified surgical technologist or 2–3 years of surgical technologist experience.
• Must scrub proficiently in at least two surgical specialties.
• Must be registered with State Regulatory Agency where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures, pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case carts for correct instruments and supplies.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs, passes instruments and retracts tissue, and maintains competency in two specialties.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, disposes of sharps and trash, and assists in instrument counting.
• Ensures all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
• Assists with OR turnover between cases, stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning rooms.
• Participates in or leads training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students.
