Job summary

Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK seeks a Senior OR Surgical Instrument Specialist to support clinical staff in the Operating Room, serve as a central point of contact for OR, SPD and General Stores, and help with case cart transport. The role is full-time, day shift, 40 hours per week.

Candidates should have 2 years of Sterile Processing/OR Scrub experience and hold one of the recognized national certifications at hire.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience as Sterile Processing Technician or OR Scrub Technician.
• National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (upon hire) or
• National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (upon hire) or
• National Certified Instrument Specialist - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (upon hire)

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and support for clinical staff in the Operating Room.
• Serve as the central point of contact for OR Clinical Staff, SPD, and General Stores.
• Assist with location and transport of case carts.
• Troubleshoot instrument problems and recommend alternatives when instrumentation is unavailable.
• Facilitate instrument fast turn-over process.
• Decontaminate and sterilize instruments in the Operating Room following guidelines and document the process.
• Assist OR staff in obtaining instrumentation and supplies for surgical procedures.
