Astranis in Northern California, USA, is seeking a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer to own the lifecycle of opto-mechanical systems on our spacecraft, from concept to production. You will collaborate across teams and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires a BS/MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 5+ years in opto-mechanical design, with hands-on testing and experience with space/aerospace projects. Equity, healthcare, 401(k), PTO and meals are offered.

Qualificações

• B.S. or M.S in mechanical, aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of opto-mechanical design experience.
• Design, development and validation from prototype through manufacturing.
• Design mounts/assemblies for optical components.
• Precision optical alignment, micron/sub-micron range.
• Free-space optics and miniature optical assemblies experience.
• Experience with suppliers/contract manufacturers.
• Passion for hardware development in fast-paced environments.
• Leadership and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Understand tolerances, thermal effects, vibration and assembly variation.

Responsabilidades

• Develop new opto-mechanical products from concept to production.
• Design and integrate optical assemblies, mounts and alignment mechanisms.
• Perform tolerance analyses and stack-ups for optical/mechanical parts.
• Integrate mechanical, optical and electrical components in complex systems.
• Lead mechanical/opto-mechanical design reviews.
• Collaborate with optical, electrical, manufacturing and other teams.
• Assist in recruiting and hiring teammates for the growing team.
