Job summary

L3Harris Space & Sensors Division in Mason, OH seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead cross-disciplinary teams through the design, analysis, and testing of ruggedized opto-mechanical and electro-optical systems. You will drive CAD models, GD&T, and DFMA adherence from concept through hardware integration.

Responsibilities include leading designs, performing FEM analyses, preparing specs and tests, and coordinating with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with relevant experience in prototype development.
• Experience designing opto-mechanical or electro-optical systems preferred.
• Strong CAD skills and GD&T proficiency with DFMA awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Conceptualize and develop working designs, models, layouts and drawings.
• Conduct mechanical analyses using classical and FEM methods to verify performance.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, test plans and procedures; review documentation.
• Support procurement, assembly, integration and testing of hardware.
• Lead design reviews and interface with program managers and customers.
• Ensure quality and adherence to budgets and schedules.
• Travel up to 5% as required.
