Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize opto-mechanical subsystems across product life cycles.

You will lead alignment activities, develop test procedures, and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability. The role requires a strong background in physics, materials science, and precision mechanical design, with hands-on experience in prototyping and tool development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Experience designing for manufacturability and high-volume manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of tolerancing, thermal expansion, and material selection.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or design the opto-mechanical solution of complex subsystems.
• Troubleshoot a wide range of mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Create detailed drawings to meet tight tolerances across production and prototype configurations.
• Perform mechanical analyses to ensure stability under operational and environmental conditions.
• Define and optimize sub-assemblies for temperature ranges and long-term stability.
• Lead integration and alignment for prototype and production optical systems.
• Develop alignment procedures, optical bench setups, and calibration workflows.
• Generate engineering test reports and review documentation.
