Job summary

Embedded Shishya is seeking a Data Scientist to lead the design and development of optimization and ML models that allocate scarce parts across competing programs. You will build models spanning mixed-integer programming, constraint optimization, and ML forecasting to turn hard supply constraints into auditable allocation decisions.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience building optimization and/or ML models for resource allocation, scheduling, or supply chain problems.
• Hands-on experience with optimization solvers (Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools) and MILP/constraint optimization formulations.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch) and data libraries (pandas, NumPy).
• Excellent communication skills; able to present tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working with real-world supply chain or inventory data.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement optimization models (MILP/constraint programming) for allocating scarce parts and resources.
• Develop ML models to forecast demand, supply risk, and part availability; integrate into allocation logic.
• Translate competing program priorities into formal objectives and constraints.
• Validate model outputs against historical decisions; iterate as constraints evolve.
• Build data pipelines to keep models current with live data.
• Present modeling tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders and mentors junior data scientists.
• Partner with software engineers to productionize models as scalable services.
