Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineer, Long Haul Wave in an onsite Denver location to own the complete lifecycle of backbone wavelength services. You will design, provision, validate, and hand off end-to-end circuits across multiple optical platforms, from the national backbone through metro boundaries, coordinating with NOC and field teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience engineering, provisioning, or supporting DWDM and optical transport networks.
• Strong understanding of optical transport technologies including DWDM, ROADM architectures, wavelength planning, amplification, OSNR, dispersion.
• Experience provisioning and troubleshooting on Nokia/Ciena optical transport platforms with multi-vendor exposure.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer end-to-end backbone wavelength services, including feasibility studies and route selection.
• Perform wavelength assignment and optical spectrum optimization; select transponders and line-side hardware.
• Provision and turn up services across multi-vendor networks (Nokia and Ciena platforms).
• Configure, integrate, and maintain optical network services across vendor boundaries.
• Validate performance via power verification, testing, and service acceptance before handoff.
• Troubleshoot complex network, optical, and service-layer issues across segments.
• Collaborate with NOC, field ops, and vendor support to resolve escalations.
• Maintain accurate engineering docs, circuit records, and as-built documentation.
• Drive improvements through automation opportunities and updated provisioning workflows.
