Job summary

New York Technology Partners in Denver is seeking an experienced Optical Transport Senior Engineer to own end-to-end backbone wavelength services. The role requires leadership across NOKIA 1830 PSS/PSD/PSI‑M and Ciena/Waveserver/RLS platforms in a long-term contract environment.

You will design, provision, and validate optical paths, coordinating with field operations and vendor support to achieve service objectives. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years engineering, provisioning, or supporting DWDM/optical transport in large networks.
• Strong knowledge of DWDM, ROADM, amplification, OSNR, dispersion and power budgets.
• Hands-on provisioning and troubleshooting across multiple vendor platforms.
• End-to-end circuit troubleshooting across multi-vendor environments.
• Strong documentation and customer-facing coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end feasibility studies and path design for backbone services.
• Engineer optical spectrum, wavelength assignment, and grid alignment.
• Select transponder/muxponder and hardware based on service needs.
• Validate performance against standards and document designs.
• Provision wavelength services across Nokia and Ciena platforms.
• Configure Nokia 1830 PSS/PSD/PSI-M and Ciena/Waveserver/RLS for service turn-up.
• Manage transitions across vendor boundaries and maintain accurate records.
• Execute end-to-end service acceptance testing and handoff to production.
