Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Senior Optical Transport Engineer to join its network engineering team in Denver, CO (preferred) or Mt. Laurel, NJ.

The role focuses on end-to-end feasibility, path design, and provisioning for backbone DWDM networks across Nokia and Ciena platforms. You will engineer the optical spectrum, validate services, and troubleshoot cross-vendor issues while collaborating with field operations and customers to ensure reliable service delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in DWDM/optical transport in a carrier or large-scale service provider environment.
• Strong understanding of DWDM, ROADM architectures, wavelength planning, optical amplification, OSNR, dispersion, and optical power budgets.
• Hands-on provisioning and troubleshooting services on optical transport equipment from major vendors across multiple platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot end-to-end circuits across multiple network segments in multi-vendor environments.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to work with customers, operations teams, and vendor support throughout service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end feasibility studies and path design for backbone wavelength services.
• Engineer optical spectrum across the path, including wavelength assignment and grid alignment.
• Provision end-to-end wavelength services on Nokia and Ciena platforms.
• Validate wavelength services before handoff, including optical power verification and burn-in.
• Diagnose optical impairments and coordinate with field ops and vendor support to resolve faults.
