Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions is seeking an Optical Transport Senior Engineer (Contract) to design, provision, and turn up backbone wavelength services across multi‑vendor networks, including Nokia and Ciena platforms. You will drive end‑to‑end design, provisioning, and customer handoff while aligning with engineering standards.

The role emphasizes cross‑vendor coordination, documented service designs, and production implementations with a 5‑month 29‑day contract term.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands‑on experience in DWDM and optical transport in carrier or large‑scale provider environments.
• Strong knowledge of optical transport tech: DWDM, ROADM, wavelength planning, amplification, regeneration, OSNR, dispersion, power budgets.
• Hands‑on provisioning/troubleshooting on major vendor hardware across multiple platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot end‑to‑end circuits across multi‑vendor networks and isolate faults.

Responsibilities

• Perform end‑to‑end feasibility studies and path design for backbone wavelength services.
• Engineer optical spectrum across path and manage wavelength assignment and grid alignment.
• Select transponder/muxponder/line‑side hardware based on service rate and reach.
• Validate performance against standards and document complete service design.
