Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Sr Optical Transceiver Firmware Engineer to develop embedded software for cutting-edge 800G, 1.6T, and future-generation transceiver modules. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of embedded firmware or software experience in networking, telecoms, data center, or hardware-control.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with optical transceivers and interfaces (QSFP28/DD, MDIO, I2C, SPI, PMBus).
• CMIS firmware experience and real-time systems know-how.
• Familiarity with diagnostics, telemetry, and health-monitoring mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for advanced optical transceivers.
• Implement firmware features for CMIS, I2C, MDIO, SPI, PMBus interfaces.
• Collaborate with hardware, optics, and manufacturing teams on architecture and validation.
• Develop manufacturing/validation firmware for calibration, characterization and production.
• Create automation tools and test frameworks for efficient validation.
• Support interoperability testing with networking equipment from major vendors.
• Drive root-cause analysis of firmware, hardware and system-level issues.
