Job summary

Lightera in Somerset, NJ seeks a Senior Optical Technician to support our Production Realization Center. You will fabricate and process specialty fiber optic devices, follow procedures, and assist with grating fabrication, recoating, annealing, and tests using spectrum analyzers and lasers.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in optics or related field, at least 2 years of lab/manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to learn new equipment and work both

Qualifications

• Associate degree in optics or related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years in a lab/manufacturing optics, photonics or fiber optics.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and specifications.
• Ability to learn new equipment and work independently or in a team.
• Experience with optical lab equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on fabrication and processing of specialty fiber optic devices per procedures and specs.
• Prepare optical fiber and perform grating fabrication, recoating, annealing and related processing.
• Perform optical measurements using lab equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers and lasers.
• Collect, record and analyze process and test data to support production and R&D.
• Inspect products to ensure quality and performance requirements.
• Identify issues and communicate problems to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
